The Siege of Delta Sigmus By Daniel Gomez

This journal recalls some of the events that took place during the Delta Sigmus conflicts, just before war broke out between the human G.I soldiers of the 206th infantry battalion, and the natives of the planet, also know as the Uggony

January 8,2356, Planet- Delta Sigmus (Day 378)
We have been stationed to this planet more than a year ago. Even since then, we have encountered many problems. People came to the planet in order to begin a form of colonizing. However, we later discovered that the planet was not uninhabited. The natives of this planet are very hostile and use weapons that look primitive but are very deadly. The Uggony have made multiple raids on the colony that the people here have worked very hard on. Citizens of the colony, known as Alador, have asked for military assistance to help hold of these constant raids that continue to bother them. Our battalion was assigned to deal with the treat. What is worse than dealing with the natives, is the constant diseases that many of the colonist and member of the battalion seem to get. The disease eventually clogs up the lungs and suffocates those infected. We don't know how to prevent this form spreading, and we can't seem to find a vaccine for it. No one knows where the diseases come form, only that it is very deadly to the human body. With all these problems we encounter, I wonder if the planet itself is trying to get rid of us by sending natives and diseases to fight us.

January 9, Planet- Delta Sigmus (Day 379)
Got to see one of the native inhabitants up close today. When a squad was sent on patrol the east side of the colony up in the mountains, I was given the task of the being the squad medic. Not even ten minutes into the mission and we were ambushed by the Uggony. Their weapons which reminded me of a giant crossbow fired deadly orange projectiles that could tear through a mans arm with one shoot. One of the squad members, Sgt. Lawrence went down. I rushed over to help him with his injuries. The natives started charged our position with their deadly double bladed swords and heavy armor for protection made of the rare metals located on the planet. One of them came right at me. I quickly grabbed the M80 mil meter machine gun off Sgt. Lawarance and fired at the native. It took at least twenty rounds to tear through its metal armor and then another ten rounds to bring the creature down. Green like blood was visible and pouring out of its body. It eventually clopased from getting its entire body torn apart by bullets. It was dead. Many of the other team members killed the natives that had tired to finish us with in the charge. This was just a scout team for the natives, the real hordes of these things would be near by. We decided to fall back to the colony to report what we had found. It took us a least a hour for us to reach the settlement. During that time, I had wondered why the Uggony had charged at us, wondering what they would have hoped to gain form doing such a reckless thing. They seemed so determined to kill us, so determined to kill us all so that they may go back to the way things had been for them so long ago. They did not seem to get it. We were not leaving. The planet has to many valuable resources on this planet for us to leave. However, my thoughts about this topic were quickly cut off after I saw the condition of the settlement. Alador itself was under attack by massive Uggony forces.

January 10,2356, Planet- Delta Sigmus (Day 380)
It is almost three in the morning and the siege of the colony continues. The squad was able to get back into the Alador with no injuries besides Sgt. Lawrence. He was sent to the medical wing of the base to be examined of his injuries. After a quick and harsh decision, the Governor of the decided it was not worth defending Alador, knowing the savagery of how the natives would eventually get in and kill everyone in sight . Ships have been called from Jupiter base to evacuate the planet. Now all we have to do is wait and pray. Colonel Douglas had given me orders to send food and supplies to the soldiers on the front lines. Myself and a handful of other medics went toward the front line defensive positions in the colony. When we arrived there, we were shocked to find that there were only about a handful of about twenty five men, the rest of the 140 men that were sent to defend this area, which were given heavy a arsenal of weapons and even a tank, were killed by the natives. We gave the supplies to the remaining men, the commanding officer at the defensive line had ordered us to assist with evacuating any civilians we could find in the area . We searched much of the area not finding many civilians except for a handful of old people that was left by their families, and to all of the groups surprise, an infant no more than four month old. Upon rescuing these people, it seemed wrong how these people were left by their families. What was it for, in order to save their own skins? I would have never left these people behind if they were part of my family. Maybe it is the selfishness like this is the reason why the Uggony don't want us on their planet, because we are completely selfish and do not consider what they care about.

January 11,2356, Planet- Delta Sigmus (Day 381)
The citizens of the Alador have been moved to the military base. The colony has been overrun and to make matters worse, it will still take another day for the ships to arrive. Everyone is setting up defense to prepare for an assault on the base. I have been given the task to guard the civilians. All I can do is wait and listen while the soilders outside fight the hordes of enemies that enclose around us. I try and tell the people to have faith and not to worry. However, upon seeing their faces, the situation to them looks extremely grim. The injured have been moved here as well. It is strange how there are not that many injured. The Uggony do not take prisoners. If they breach our defense, we are all going to face a similar death to those I had seen at the defensive line, with torn and burned bodies. The sick of the planet were killed before moved to the military base. Those that had diseased were shot by our own men. They did not want disease to spread like a wildfire in the base. I try to keep the idea of our men killing the innocent out of my head. Trying to ignore these thoughts, I pray for the best as I listen to the sound of gunfire and explosion outside.

January 12,2356, In orbit around Delta Sigmus (Day 382)
The ships were able to get all of us off the planet. We had to leave the dead, fearing that the disease was in their body too. When everyone was off planet, our space craft targeted and destroyed both the Alador and the military base. I am sure that killed a bunch of those creatures. It seems very sad, this state of affairs. We all came to this planet thinking we would achieve success were other had failed before. Instead we got nothing and faced utter defeat at the hands of the natives. But, on the bright side we were able to get all survivors off the planet. Rumor is also that a military operation will begin on the planet in order to destroy the natives. I wonder if it is the right course to take considering that it is their own world and they can do what they want with it. But, I am also a solider, and weather or not I like it, I have to obey my orders, and hope for the best. I will participate for the operation, hoping maybe to better understand what has happened form these events. This whole week seems to have been a nightmare for me and many others. But, I hope that form this defeat, we can better learn how to achieve victory the next time around.
